I Must Stop!

Not only did I get 19 books Wednesday, but yesterday I bought 3 more, plus True Blood Season 2 DVD. Then today I get 13 more at Books-A-Million, and 12 more after work at the used bookstore! It's a sickness, I tell you.

So many books to read! Taking me a while to finish The Wolf and The Dove. Very good, but long.

Back from Vegas

If you ever go to Vegas, definitely see "Thunder From Down Under". Hot Australian men. Virtually naked. YUM.

Had the best time ever with my Vamp Sisters. Got a tattoo. Can't wait until our next Vamp Sisters Lodge Party!

Didn't take me long to get back into book buying since I got home....yesterday! Bought 19 today! They didn't have all the new releases for yesterday, yet they had some of next week's. Go figure. I got:

His at Night by Sherry Thomas, Forged of Shadows (Marked Souls, Book 2) by Jessa Slade, Inhuman Resources (OSI, Book 3) by Jes Battis, Daemon's Mark (Nocturne City, Book 5) by Caitlin Kittredge, If He's Wild by Hannah Howell, Lords of Desire (Anthology) by Virginia Henley, et al, A Hint of Wicked by Jennifer Haymore, Promise of Pleasure by Cheryl Holt, Taste of Temptation by Cheryl Holt, Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, Book 4) by Ilona Andrews, The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld) by Gena Showalters, Cheat the Grave (Signs of the Zodiac) by Vicki Pettersson, Ancient Whispers by Marie-Claude Bourque, Dreamveil (Kyndred, Book 2) by Lynn Viehl, Red Demon (Gods of Midnight, Book 3) by Deidre Knight, Forbidden Highlander by Donna Grant, Chimera by Rob Thurman and Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane.

Finished Lover Mine by J. R. Ward before vacation, and I'm currently reading an oldie but goodie, The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss.

Juggling 2 at one time

I couldn't wait to start Lover Mine, but it's hard to lug it to work. So I started a paperback, too.

Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 8) by J. R. Ward

My favorite series EVER.

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. Long divided as a terrifying battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown to himself and to those around him. After he was taken in by the Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was- or his true identity. Indeed, the fallen Brother Darius has returned, but with a different face and a very different destiny. As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call up on both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Xhex, a symphath assassin, has long steeled herself against the attraction between her and John Matthew. Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

A lifetime ago, Thomas Thorne was convicted and sent away for a crime he didn't commit. With a change in fortune, Tom re-emerges in London society, disguised as the wealthy Prince of the Isle of Sabedoria and intent on revenge.

My Thoughts of The Rogue Prince:

Not that it has anything to do with the quality of the story, but I just wanted to point out that I find the man on the book cover very sexy. Just sayin'. Love his hair. As for the book.....This is the first Margo Maguire book that I was a little disappointed in. It was a very good story, and the romance was so sexy and hot, with intense emotions, but the premise that Thomas had everyone believing he was the prince of a previously unknown country was a bit much. Sabedoria? That's the best name they could come up with? But like I said, the romance was great, and Tom's choice between love and revenge is very wrenching.

Currently Reading - A Highlander Never Surrenders by Paula Quinn

Desire is the deadliest weapon of all . . .

Defending Her Was His Duty
Skilled with a sword and quick with her wit, Scottish rebel Claire Stuart cannot be tamed. And nothing can deter her from rescuing her beloved sister and saving them both from arranged marriages—not even the handsome Highlander who vows to protect Claire. His scorching gaze and fiery kiss bring her to the brink of surrender, but she belongs to no man . . .

Seducing Her Would Be His Reward
Graham Grant has had his share of lasses. But he has never met one as headstrong or as bonnie as Claire—or one with such desperate, dangerous plans. Helping her could betray his honor, his country, and more. Graham can't claim her. Yet everything in him says: Take her, make her yours, teach her pleasure, and never let her go.

(Information courtesy of Goodreads.com)

My Thoughts:

This was a historical romance, at times heavy on the historical. At times I got confused - which isn't that hard for me to begin with. But it was a very good, entertaining story, and a spirited romance. Claire is the ultimate kick-ass heroine - just as good, if not better, than most men with a sword. She doesn't think she needs any help saving her sister, but Graham is determined to keep her safe. I think they made quite a good couple - her fire and his strength and sense of humor. The mystery of who was truly a traitor kept you guessing all through the story.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

Currently Reading: Running Scared (The Sentinel Wars, Book 3) by Shannon K. Butcher

They are the Sentinels. Three races descended from ancient guardians of mankind, each possessing unique abilities in their battle to protect humanity against their eternal foes: the Synestryn. Now one Sentinel's survival determines the fate of them all.

Lexi Johns has one purpose: to free her best friend from the hands of the Sentinels. And Zach, the Sentinel she has been running from for months, has one goal: to convince her that their destinies are entwined. For the magic that Zach has absorbed could destroy him if he doesn't find the woman who can channel it for him. And he knows Lexi is the one.

From an early age, Lexi has been taught to fear the Sentinels. And now she is an agent of a group out to destroy them. So when Zach finds her, it is Lexi's chance to strike at the heart of the Sentinels. But, as Lexi sees Zach's courage, selflessness, and honor, she begins to doubt her beliefs -- and is faced with an unbearable choice.

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite series. (And has some of the best covers in PNR! YUM!) We've met all of these characters in the previous two books, and this time the story is focused on Lexi and Zach. I think this one is the best in the series to date. The chemistry between the two is just amazing, though I wanted to smack the crap out of Lexi for doubting Zach for so long! And the man is seriously hot! Secondary characters in this book are very interesting, and I want to learn more about them, especially the Sanguinars. I think the idea of the Sentinels' lifelines showing by the number of leaves on their tats is a novel idea. Can't wait for the next one, Living Nightmare.

Currently Reading - Lord of Temptation by Paula Quinn

Paula Quinn is quickly become a favorite of mine!

EVERY WOMAN'S DESIRE Norman lord Dante Risande never met a woman he couldn't seduce…until a lovely slave named Gianelle refuses his bed and piques his interest. So when she's accused of murder, he can't sit idly by. As the King's right hand, it's his duty to investigate. But in order to save her, he must buy her. NO MAN'S POSSESSION A slave all her life, Gianelle wants nothing to do with men. Especially this silver-eyed, velvet tongued warrior. What she wants is her freedom, not to become another of Dante's conquests. But as the only suspect in the killing of her last master, she has no choice except to put her faith in Dante…a man who questions everything, including her innocence.

(Information courtesy of Amazon.com)

My Thoughts:

Medieval romance is a new passion of mine, and this one was just wonderful! Just something about it got to me. Paula Quinn is another new favorite. The two leads were perfect foils for each other. I do love my warriors, and Dante is one of the hottest. There was some exciting action, and a good mystery - did Gianelle kill her master? And the romance.....ahhhh, the romance. Exactly what you're looking for in this genre.

Oh, I saw The Backup Plan at the movies today. Alex O'Loughlin is in it. Will definitely put some pictures in your head of male perfection when you read romance novels!

Currently Reading - The Demon's Daughter (Tales of the Demon World, Book 1) by Emma Holly

It's Inspector Adrian Philips's job to keep the peace between humans and demons in Avvar. Part demon, part human, he's hated by both sides. But when he meets Roxanne, a fellow outcast, he finds in her everything his soul needs--and his body yearns for. The question is, will the exquisite pleasure they find together be worth the dangerous wrath of their enemies?

(Information courtesy of Goodreads.com)

My Thoughts:

Hot. Very, very hot. The story was certainly original, as was the world building. I had a little trouble picturing it, though. The setting was compared to VIctorian England, yet there were some modern devices, which made it a little odd for me. Adrian and Roxanne made an odd, fascinating couple. He was quite reserved and proper, and she was an artist and very feisty. The thing I really liked was that Roxanne wasn't really a raving beauty, but there was such attraction between these two people and it made her beautiful. There was some great suspense. Oh, and did I mention it was HOT?

Currently Reading - A Restless Knight by Deborah MacGillvray

I used to not care too much for historical romances. Now I absolutely love them! I especially like Highlander and Medieval romances.

~ A Defiant Lady ~

In Scotland's darkest hour, an English warrior dressed all in black has come for her. Blessed with the kenning, Lady Tamlyn MacShane foresaw this day, when the ruthless Lord Julian Challon would conquer her land -- and her heart. She is determined to resist him...but she is no match for his strength...or his sensuality...

~ A Resolute Lord ~

To Julian, the proud Scotswoman should be nothing more than a captive. Yet Tamlyn's fiery Beauty ensnares him, body and soul. Now, the warrior known as the Black Dragon is in danger of falling under the spell that cannot be broken---the spell of love.

(Information courtesy of Amazon.com)

My Thoughts:

~Sigh~ So romantic! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Wonderful first book for McGillivray. Julian was just awesome as the hero. Dark, handsome, strong and righteous, you couldn't ask for a better hero. And I just adored Tamlyn. Free spirited and beautiful, Julian couldn't help but be drawn to her. She was pagan Celtic, and that mystery added so much to the story. I can't wait to get to the next book!

Currently Reading - Parallel Heat (Midnight Warriors, Book 2) by Deidra Knight

In Parallel Attraction, Deidre Knight created an unforgettable alternate world of danger, seduction and the mysteries of time. Here she returns to that world as alien warrior Marco McKinley is enlisted to personally protect beautiful human solider Thea Haven. Now, as two sworn enemies are pitted against each other, their lives will be changed forever by the unpredictable perils of love, betrayal, vengeance and passion.

(Information courtesy of Goodreads.com)

My Thoughts:

The second book was even better than the first! I thought that talk of a parallel universe would be confusing, but luckily it's not. One of the things I love about Knight's books are that the secondary characters are just as memorable as the leads. We were introduced to Marco and Theo in Parallel Attraction. Marco is a fantastic tortured alpha male who denies himself what he feels for Thea. Thea seems to have grown and matured since the first book. This story has action, adventure and romance. Very hot.

I Was In New Release Heaven!

I went to the bookstore Thursday just to look - had to wait for Friday (payday!) to buy books. They didn't have most of the new books that were to be released April 27! Grrrrrrr. Nice young woman at Books-A-Million searched the back for me, and said she'd hold whatever she found.

I went back Friday, and woohooooooooooooooo! She found most of the new books! (Still couldn't find Margo Maguire's The Rogue Prince, but they're getting it in.) I decided to look around before checking out. And I hit the jackpot! They had most of the new releases out for May 4! I was happier than a pig in....well, you know.

I got Lover Mine by J. R. Ward, Stormwalker by Allyson James, Tsunami Blue by Gayle Ann Williams, The Demon in Me by Michelle Rowen, Tall, Dark & Wolfish by Lydia Dare, Running Scared by Shannon K. Butcher, Bound by Darkness by Annette McCleave, Ghosts & Echoes by Lyn Benedict, Blood Born by Linda Howard and Linda Jones, Into the Dark by Gena Showalter, Chaos Bites by Lori Handeland and Stealing Kathryn by Jacquelyn Frank.

Pretty good, eh?

Currently Reading - Parallel Attraction (Midnight Warriors, Book 1) by Deidre Knight

From a "fantastic and riveting new voice in paranormal fiction"* comes a thrilling debut novel of danger and passion, and a love that will cross all boundaries of time and space.

And when the future crashes into the present, Kelsey must decide if his deception will cost them the love that should have been their destiny.

(Information courtesy of Goodreads.com)

My Thoughts:

I love Knight's Gods of Midnight series, so I decided to give this sci-fi/paranormal romance series a try. Glad I did - what a great start! Knight is just marvelous at world building. I enjoyed how the hero and heroine were introduced as kids in the beginning, and how they were made to forget each other. When memories come back, the romance and attraction becomes even greater. I'm not a big sci-fi fan, so that's why I hesitated to give it a try. Glad I decided to give it a go!
